SUMMARY
Over-The-Rhine is a well-preserved historic German neighborhood in Cincinnati, OH. It is now home to a large variety of craft breweries, hip pubs, trendy bars, and local food restaurants. I created this self-guided tour brochure to help visitors explore 6 restaurants in OTR: Boombox Buns, Taste of Belgium, Gomez Tacos, Taglio's Pizza, LouVino & Lucius Q. In order to give the trail materials a vibrant and young look, appealing to millennials and young adults, I created a variety of colorful illustrations to represent each tour stop.
PROCESS
To begin the design process for this self-guided tour, I defined my brand and audience by creating a brand key and branding board, with the use of illustrations and colors to represent each tour stop.
The main element used to explore this trail is the brochure. It is separated into sections to describe each food stop and give tasty suggestions to the visitors. Each color and illustration represents a different restaurant/tour stop. In the brochure, I also included a description of the area, a map to help find each stop and included a section to promote stickers and tshirts that you can collect.
In order to promote the tour to locals and other visitors I created a bus stop advertisement, social media sponsored ad and physical signage to point direction to help the users find each location.
As people visit each stop on the tour, they are able to collect stickers that are also proof of completion to receive a t-shirt or purchase a sweatshirt. When worn, these materials will act as a secondary promotion for the food trail.
