SUMMARY
For this project I set out to create an exhibition space with collateral that would be collected or seen by people who visited the exhibition. The exhibition titled, Descending from the American West, provides a visitor with a collection of art from the old west whilst also providing an immersive experience that includes getting drinks from a bar and food from a saloon style restaurant. This exhibition would travel and stop in small western or southern towns with dwindling populations, be set up in an abandoned building, and would seek to revive the town, putting it back on the map with the increased number of visitors.
BREAKING IT DOWN
For the main piece of my exhibition I created a gallery catalog that is also a menu for food and drink provided in the saloon. To start, I created these illustrations to go along with my old town feel. Each image, done with Procreate on the iPad Pro, is used as a separator page for each section including the cover, food, drink and artwork.
The catalog is designed to move you through the exhibition space. The visitor would start by ordering a drink, walk through the exhibition space, and finish with a sit down meal.
I also created bar signage for the saloon. The bar, called Descending Drinks, is situated and designed to bring you back to the days of the old west.
This exhibition poster would also be seen throughout the space and throughout the town as an advertisement for the exhibition.
Finally, I designed the ticket that would be used to enter the exhibition, in a way that matches the Descending from the American West brand.
